Earl Charles Spencer’s recent social media activity has sparked new speculation about ongoing tensions within the Spencer family. Despite being active on Instagram, the Earl made no public acknowledgment of his twin daughters’ 33rd birthday, drawing attention to a possible lingering rift.
Instead of marking the special occasion for Lady Amelia and Lady Eliza Spencer, the Earl chose to post a serene photo of the Althorp House library.
He accompanied it with a plug for his new article in the Financial Times, which focuses on the preservation of England’s historic country estates.
Meanwhile, his daughters were in full celebration mode. Lady Amelia took to Instagram with a throwback photo of the twins as children, both wearing matching floral swimsuits.
“Happy birthday to my soulmate! @elizavspencer thank you for being my better half and my entire universe,” she captioned the sweet image. Lady Eliza responded warmly in the comments: “My world happy happy birthday my everything.”
The emotional posts stood in sharp contrast to their father’s silence. Earl Spencer has been known to share public tributes in the past, most recently marking what would have been Princess Diana’s 63rd birthday on July 1.
Given that he was online and posting content on the same day as his daughters’ birthday, the absence of a message hasn’t gone unnoticed by royal watchers.
The Earl’s relationship with his daughters—Lady Amelia, Lady Eliza, and Lady Kitty Spencer—has reportedly been distant for some time.
In 2023, he did not attend Lady Amelia’s wedding to Greg Mallett in South Africa. The same was true in 2021, when he was absent from Lady Kitty’s wedding in Italy.
