Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi has celebrated five years of marriage with Princess Beatrice by posting a heartfelt tribute to his wife on Instagram, reflecting on their shared journey since their intimate royal wedding on 17 July 2020.
“Happy 5th Anniversary to my incredible partner, the most beautiful and amazing wife. I cherish every moment we’ve spent together and am deeply grateful for our journey. Here’s to countless more years filled with laughter and tons of love!” Edo wrote, sharing the personal message with his followers.
The couple’s wedding took place during the height of pandemic restrictions, prompting the cancellation of their original plans for a larger celebration in May 2020. Instead, they opted for a private ceremony held at the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor, with only immediate family in attendance.
According to a statement from Buckingham Palace, the ceremony was conducted “with their parents and siblings following the postponement of their wedding in May,” and adhered to government safety guidelines.
In a rare and touching moment, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were among the small group of guests witnessing their granddaughter’s wedding. Prince Andrew accompanied Beatrice down the aisle, while Edoardo’s son Wolfie took on the dual role of best man and pageboy.
The service was officiated by Reverend Canon Paul Wright, Sub-Dean of the Chapel Royal, alongside Reverend Canon Martin Poll, Domestic Chaplain to the Queen.
Princess Beatrice paid a deeply personal tribute to her grandmother by wearing a vintage Norman Hartnell gown loaned from the Queen’s own collection.
The ivory Peau De Soie taffeta dress, trimmed with Duchess satin and adorned with organza sleeves and diamanté, featured a distinct checkered bodice. The gown was expertly altered by Angela Kelly and Stewart Parvin to suit Beatrice.
In another nod to royal tradition, the bride wore Queen Mary’s diamond fringe tiara, also borrowed from the late Queen. This historic piece, originally made by Garrard and Co. in 1919, was famously worn by Queen Elizabeth II on her own wedding day in 1947, having been repurposed from a diamond necklace given by Queen Victoria to Queen Mary.
The groom wore a traditional morning suit, while Princess Beatrice’s engagement ring was designed by Shaun Leane. Edo’s wedding band was a vintage gold piece crafted by Josh Collins.
