Prince Harry’s hopes of reconnecting with King Charles may be facing a major obstacle — Prince William. According to royal commentator Charles Rae, the Prince of Wales has not forgiven his younger brother for past public attacks on the British Royal Family and is unlikely to support Harry’s return to royal life.
In an interview with GB News, Rae stated that William remains deeply wounded by the breakdown of his relationship with Harry and holds Meghan Markle responsible for much of the turmoil.
“Of all the people in all this, he is the one who feels, in my view, most hurt by what has happened between him and his brother, and there’s only one person that he is blaming, and that is Meghan,” Rae said.
The royal expert emphasized that as the future king, William is not prepared to welcome Harry and Meghan back into the royal fold. “You’ve also then got on the other side, Prince William, King in waiting,” Rae noted. “He is against Harry reuniting with the Royals.”
This commentary follows recent reports that representatives for Prince Harry and King Charles held a quiet meeting in London aimed at exploring possibilities for reconciliation.
However, Rae suggested that any progress may be undermined by unresolved tensions dating back to key incidents, including the couple’s controversial 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Rae also referenced claims from one of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s cousins, alleging that the Queen was “deeply, deeply upset” by Harry’s conduct. “It is alleged he was rude to her for about ten minutes,” said Rae. “Let us not forget that during all of this, her dearly beloved husband was dying. You can’t pull these things back and say it was a joke.”
The commentator concluded with a grim outlook for any potential reconciliation: “There’s a long, long way to go before we get down to some substantive chats about healing. And I’m still of the opinion that this can never be healed, and I still believe that Meghan will never return to this country.”
