Prince William wasted no time getting back to work following a high-profile royal engagement, as he headed straight from Windsor Castle to Zurich to support England’s women’s football team in their Euro 2025 campaign.
Just hours after bidding farewell to French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron, the Prince of Wales was seen arriving at Stadion Letzigrund in Zurich.
He came to cheer on the Lionesses as they took on the Netherlands in a key group stage match—and he didn’t leave disappointed.
The Women’s team delivered a spectacular performance, beating the Dutch side 4-0. Kensington Palace celebrated the win with a lively social media update that read: “A big 4-0 win in the group stage — and what a set of goals! Off the mark and onto the next one. Let’s go @lionesses! [fire emoji and football emoji] #WEURO2025.”
The post included a carousel of match highlights and candid moments from the private team celebrations, where Prince William could be seen congratulating the players.
As patron of England’s Football Association, William’s support carries special weight. His presence at the game was a noticeable contrast to the final of the 2022 tournament, when he missed England’s historic win against Spain—a move that drew criticism from fans.
This time around, the Prince made it clear he’s standing firmly behind the squad as they aim to defend their title.
Before jetting off to Zurich, William had joined Princess Kate at a glittering State Banquet at Windsor Castle in honor of the visiting French President.
The formal dinner marked the first such banquet at the royal residence since 2014, and the Prince played a key role in representing the Royal Family alongside King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Still, duty called on multiple fronts, and William managed to strike a balance between regal responsibilities and his ongoing passion for supporting British sport.
His attendance at the Lionesses’ match not only thrilled fans but also added a personal touch to an already triumphant evening for the team.
