A rare personal moment between Queen Camilla and tennis legend Novak Djokovic has stirred intrigue, after the royal made a surprising mention of her past stay at his villa in Montenegro.
The candid exchange reportedly took place following a tennis match on Thursday, where the Queen and the Serbian sports icon were seen engaging in what looked like a friendly conversation.
While full details of their chat weren’t made public, it was Djokovic who later confirmed that Queen Camilla brought up something quite unexpected — her fond memories of staying at his Montenegrin villa.
Though discreet about the specifics, Djokovic addressed the media after the match and offered a small glimpse into their discussion. He stated it was a “private” conversation, but did add that the Queen had asked a “non-tennis related” question.
That one comment was enough to spark curiosity about what was said between the two. Many are now speculating that the exchange revolved around shared ties to Montenegro — a place the Queen has visited officially, and apparently enjoyed on a more personal level as well.
Queen Camilla’s last documented trip to the Balkans was in March 2016. Alongside King Charles, she undertook a six-day royal tour on behalf of the British government, making stops in Croatia, Kosovo, Serbia, and Montenegro.
The visit had a strong diplomatic and humanitarian focus, especially around tackling sexual violence and supporting vulnerable communities.
While in Serbia, she made a meaningful visit to the Zvecanska Centre in Belgrade — a children’s home supported by the Novak Djokovic Foundation. At the time, Djokovic couldn’t be there in person, but he did send a heartfelt video message to the Queen. In it, he described her visit as “of tremendous importance and significance.”
During the Montenegrin leg of that same trip, the royal couple was welcomed at a reception at the President’s Palace. Although no details from that stay were previously known to involve Djokovic’s villa, Camilla’s latest admission offers an unexpected, human glimpse into what may have been a moment of leisure on a formal tour.
The Queen’s quiet acknowledgment and Djokovic’s respectful discretion reinforce the sense of mutual admiration between the two. It’s not every day that a royal opens up, even slightly, about private travel experiences — especially ones that tie in with a world-famous athlete known for his national pride.
