The latest trailer for Meghan Markle’s Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, has sparked fresh intrigue about the eating habits of the royal family—particularly her husband, Prince Harry. In the teaser, the Duchess of Sussex playfully revealed one food her husband refuses to eat, reigniting long-standing rumors about the royals’ seafood preferences.
Speaking to renowned chef José Andrés, Meghan quipped, “Do you know who doesn’t like lobster? My husband.” The lighthearted moment, met with laughter, has fueled speculation about whether the royal family avoids shellfish—a myth debunked by former royal chef Darren McGrady.
McGrady took to X (formerly Twitter) to set the record straight, sharing a 1989 royal menu featuring soufflé de homard (lobster soufflé) served at Windsor Castle. “Proof that the Royal Family DO actually eat shellfish,” he captioned the post. The late Queen Elizabeth II, known for her refined palate, reportedly enjoyed French-inspired dishes, with menus traditionally written in French.
In a past interview with HELLO!, McGrady explained, “We used a repertoire of dishes—British and French food. The Queen spoke fluent French, and even family menus were in French.” This contrasts with Meghan and Harry’s more relaxed family meals, which often include simple favorites like bacon and eggs.
“My husband and Archie both love fried eggs,” Meghan told People. “There’s a lot of bacon around here. Sometimes, you just put a frozen waffle in the toaster—no shame in that.” The Sussexes, parents to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, seem to favor laid-back dining over royal formality.
The second season of With Love, Meghan, premiering August 26, will feature celebrity guests like Chrissy Teigen, David Chang, and Tan France. The trailer highlights Meghan’s focus on connection and creativity, with her saying, “I love finding new ways to show people you care. Let’s be curious together.”
This follows Netflix’s extended partnership with Archewell Productions, the company Meghan runs with Prince Harry. “We’re proud to expand our work with Netflix, creating content that resonates globally,” she said in a statement. The first season of her series drew 5.3 million views, proving its widespread appeal.
According to the official synopsis, the new season promises “playful cooking challenges, DIY projects, and joyful discoveries.” It’s a refreshing take on lifestyle content, blending humor and heart—much like Meghan’s own approach to family life.
