Jessica Mulroney has quietly separated from her husband, Ben Mulroney, after 16 years together, a source confirms. The stylists’ relationship reportedly broke under renewed scrutiny of her high-profile fallout involving Meghan Markle, which she now says she “somewhat regrets.”
A close source reports that Jessica has come to view her friendship with the Duchess of Sussex as a “dark cloud”, expressing regret over the exposure that accompanied their relationship. That visibility, they say, helped fuel the scandal that derailed her career and strained her marriage.
The friendship between Jessica (45) and Meghan (43) flourished in Toronto, where they met while Meghan filmed Suits. Jessica hosted Meghan’s 2019 New York baby shower and even styled her for the show’s engagement photo shoot. Their three children – daughter Ivy and twins Brian and John – later featured in Meghan and Prince Harry’s lavish 2018 royal wedding: Ivy as a bridesmaid and the twins as page boys.
Their bond unraveled in 2020 when influencer Sasha Exeter publicly accused Jessica of racist behavior, alleging Jessica had threatened her career—an incident widely interpreted as “textbook white privilege.” Jessica apologized and claimed she had learned from the experience, calling Meghan her “kindest friend”. Her husband Ben resigned from his TV hosting job at CBC to support her during the backlash.
Even so, sources say the resulting fallout intensified because of Jessica’s deep association with Meghan and Prince Harry. A Daily Mail-insider suggests that Jessica now wishes she had never been involved in the 2018 royal wedding, as the intense publicity made her viral clash far worse.
By 2021, public signs of friendship online ceased—no joint posts, no references, no collaborative appearances. Jessica began posting cryptic quotes about feeling isolated and losing friends. In 2023, she called out people “looking for a way to be against” her, echoing the lasting emotional fallout.
Page Six broke news of the split earlier this week. According to eyewitnesses, Jessica recently attended a wedding in Toronto without her wedding ring and reportedly told guests she felt “sad, but also relieved to have some clarity.” The separation is believed to have occurred some time ago.
Jessica and Ben, who married in October 2008, share three children. Their public life—once glamorous and well-connected—shifted sharply after the scandal. Jessica lost her television roles, charity positions, and standing in Toronto’s social circles. Ben later re-emerged as a podcaster with conservative commentary.
While Jessica initially defended her bond with Meghan—writing that she considered her “family”—she now reportedly describes that chapter as overwhelming and regretful.
