Princess Charlotte Debuts Pink Nails at Wimbledon Final

Princess Charlotte drew widespread attention on Sunday, July 14, during her appearance at the Wimbledon men’s singles final, where she was seen with her nails painted in a striking hot pink shade.

This marked the first time the 10-year-old royal has been spotted publicly with manicured nails—a rare departure from the royal family’s traditional preference for neutral polish tones.

Charlotte’s nail colour was noticed as she covered her mouth and applauded while watching the championship match between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner at Centre Court. Sitting alongside her parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton, and her older brother Prince George, Charlotte was part of a stylish family display, with all four royals dressed in coordinating blue outfits.

The young royal wore a white dress adorned with navy piping, a blue bow in her hair, Ray-Ban tortoiseshell cat-eye sunglasses, and white Mary Jane shoes—an ensemble that exuded both elegance and youthful charm. The occasion marked her third visit to Wimbledon, following her debut at the tournament in 2023.

Though there is no formal ban on bold nail colours within the British Royal Family, it has been an unspoken custom to stick to nude tones—reportedly influenced by Queen Elizabeth II, who was said to find bright polish distracting. Still, Kate Middleton herself has occasionally deviated from that norm, notably wearing bright red nail polish during the family’s 2023 Easter Sunday outing.

On Sunday, both Kate and Charlotte wore similar accessories to combat the intense summer heat. While Kate chose Ralph Lauren tortoiseshell cat-eye sunglasses, Charlotte opted for a child-friendly version of the style from Ray-Ban, creating a charming mother-daughter fashion moment.

Kate wore a custom royal blue Roksanda midi dress with gathered shoulder detailing, paired with tan Ralph Lauren Celia heels, Cartier earrings, and a Daniella Draper gold necklace, all highlighting her polished, formal aesthetic for the prestigious event.

Meanwhile, Prince George, 11, matched his father’s formal style in a navy suit with a striped tie, while Prince William chose a double-breasted navy jacket, a pale blue shirt, and a tie patterned with white polka dots. Both wore stylish sunglasses, with William in L.G.R Suez tortoiseshell frames and George in a youthful twist—amber geometric shades from WearMe.

Charlotte’s beauty statement follows a growing trend among royal women subtly embracing personal style in public. At the Order of the Garter ceremony in June, Princess Anne wore pink metallic lipstick, and later at Royal Ascot, Princess Eugenie turned heads with bold black eyeshadow, challenging long-held assumptions about royal makeup standards.
